We as Duka Afrika Portal Ltd (“Dooka/we/us/our”) have compiled this privacy policy to comply with applicable laws when processing personal data.

What data do we collect?

Dooka collects the following data:

  • Personal identification information (Name, email address, phone number) as required to provide you with our services and charge you for the services which we provide.  We collect billing data relating to the company, but not relating to any individuals within the company.  We also collect usage data from cookies on your web browser if you grant permission to do so from your browser.

Please note that for the purposes of this policy, personal data refers to information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide Dooka with most of the personal data we collect. We may collect publicly available data from third parties who are running marketing or market research events or assignments on our behalf.  We collect data and process data when you:

  • Register online or place an order for any products or services.
  • Voluntarily complete a customer survey or provide feedback on any of our message boards or via email.
  • Use or view our platform via your browser’s cookies.
  • Voluntarily provide us with your details at a trade show or other event.

How will we use your data?

Dooka collects your data so that we can:

  • Process your order and manage your account for order performance.
  • Email you with special offers on products and services we think you might like.  We do this only where you provide your consent for us to do so.

When Dooka processes your order, it may send your data to and use the resulting information from, credit reference agencies to prevent fraudulent purchases (based on our legitimate interests).

How do we store your data?

Dooka securely stores your data in an internationally recognized cloud CRM system or database located outside the country which complies with the ISO27001 security standard.

Dooka will keep the billing contact data of your company for a period of 12 months after the termination of any contract signed with Dooka for the provision of services. Once this period has expired, we will permanently delete your company’s billing data.  We do not ask for or store any of your personal  billing or bank related data. 

Other data (Name, Telephone, Email) will only be retained for as long as is necessary to process your orders and manage your account unless further retention is required by any applicable laws or where we receive a request for us to delete your data.

Marketing

Dooka will, with your consent, send you information about products and services that we think you might like.

If you have agreed to receive marketing communications, you may always opt out at any time.

You have the right at any time to stop Dooka from contacting you for marketing purposes or giving your data to other members of the Dooka Group by sending an email to contact@dooka.com.

What are your data protection rights?

Dooka would like to make sure you are fully aware of all and can exercise your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request Dooka for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.

The right to rectification – You have the right to request that Dooka correct any personal data you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request Dooka to complete the information you believe is incomplete.

The right to erasure – You have the right to request that Dooka erase any personal data you believe is inaccurate under certain conditions.

The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that Dooka restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to Dooka’s processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to data portability – You have the right to request that Dooka transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you under certain conditions. We may charge you a reasonable fee for this service which shall not exceed the cost incurred to actualize the request

Duka Afrika Portal Ltd, a Private Company with registered offices at Unit 201 Level 1 Gate Avenue – South Zone, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and holding Commercial License number 5278, hereby gives notice that its DIFC Private Company shall be wound-up on or before 31st December 2023.

Any queries, claims or objections regarding the proposed winding up and closure of the Private Company are requested to be forwarded to Mr. Sam Oppenheimer, CEO in writing to sam.oppenheimer@dooka.com within Seven (7) days from the date of publication of this notice (5th December 2023).
